Title: How the Theology of the Body has Affected Us
Story By: Stan and Elizabeth Hawbaker
After talking about this for a while we realized that we could make a list a mile long of ways that the Theology of the Body has impacted our lives.  But, in short, we think it helps us to love better.  We now see and appreciate our vocation as a married couple in light of the celibate vocation and that is something we never even thought of before.  Here are a few thoughts from each of us.

Elizabeth: It really helps me to hear about the dignity God gave to us as his own creatures.  The Theology of the Body helps me to know Christ in a different way and to see new ways that I can give myself to others in imitation of Him.  The small glimpse of God's plan that I am able to wrap my little mind around is so incredible that I can't help but long for more.  It challenges me to empty myself more and to go toward others instead of focusing only on myself.  I find myself making more loving sacrifices with less complaining when I have had a good dose of ToB!  Not that the complaining is a thing of the past altogether, but it's a process and I fall often.

Stan: After listening to many hours of talks I think the biggest change in me is how I look at my wife.  I have always treasured her, but now I see our relationship in a whole new way.  It gives answers to questions I have always had, but have never really been able to express, especially in regards to my sexuality.  It's taken me to a deeper understanding of God's design for the human person and our relationships.  I am also encouraged when I listen to the Theology of the Body because it reassures me when I'm trying to live my faith to the fullest.
